Uphold a full intake of scum, for the lack of a better term, in order to transcend the gap between song and story. Where do those hard luck songs come from? What life fashioned the kind of musician who writes songs of hatred, struggle, and negative endurance? We at Criminal Class have opened the door for those writers whose stories have gone largely unheard. Those stories that are often so unbelievably crass and vindictive that no one else could bear to publish them. If you have what it takes to bleed onto the page, consider our journal a second home.
Criminal Class Press was created to “Transcend the gap between musician and song. We want to tell the stories that inspired the music of the scene.” Criminal Class Press IS the door leading down to the bowery where the scumbag’s voice is slowly but surely making a genre for itself. While there are authors out there who are composing intense stories, writers are still censoring themselves in that people have yet to truly accept stories that were bred from living in the streets, violence, and corruption.Collectively, we are that voice, that late-night alley off the streetside where unspeakable acts are being committed. We are that crew of hooligans perpetuating Bovver while shouting in the streets. There are still voices out there that go unheard like the gang-banged whore, the guy who stabbed his enemy and is now on the run, or the junkie who ultimately seeks redemption but can’t seem to flee from their addiction.
A lot of writers are afraid to bring their stories to the table in fear
of rejection, mockery, or judgement. By creating a home for the forgotten
and underclass, we will rise up, amplify our collective voice, and ultimately
wreak havoc on the literary world.
We will not hold back, think twice, or proceed with caution while making our mark in mainstream literature. We are the Scumbag Elite!
